Fishing Report (7-13-06)
We had a great trout season at Clearwater Lodge. The new location
is working out great. As usual the food and guide service was
excellent. The Fall River and Pit River both fished real well
this year. And the Hex hatch was totally awesome.
Next
on the agenda is the King of all salmon, the Chinook. And the
salmon outlook for this year is quite intriguing.
There are a few thing working in our favor, namely the ocean closure.
Most of the Oregon and California coastline is closed to all commercial
fishing this year to protect the Klamath River salmon. This could
mean thousands, even tens of thousands more chrome salmon returning
to the Rogue. Also, our hefty snowpack means more water this summer.
More water means happier fish. Happy fish bite! I can't wait!
Book early, space is limited.
Summer
steelhead is next on the menu, and it's the most
popular. This summer and fall we'll exclusively be swinging for
steelhead with spey rods. I have introduced many of my clients
to merits of the two hander. Many are already accomplished steelheaders.
And for the rest it's a great opportunity to catch an adult steelhead
on the swing. As many of you know, there is nothing better than
the tug of a hot steelhead. Get your dates soon, it's filling
up!
Good
fishing,
Jonny
